Sho was going to collect some more things to properly set up the gifts he was going to give Junko for her birthday, but he decided first to see if Kasumi managed to find her way to the aisle he'd instructed her to go to, where most of the Gundam figurines were located. He left the aisle he was on and headed in that direction. There, he'd found Kasumi standing there blankly at the model Gundam kits with a confused look on her face. He remembered that Junko did enjoy putting together model Gundams in her spare time. He was unsure of how often she did them or even how many she had owned and done already. It's why he stuck with buying her other anime-related items he knew she'd like. But even if Kasumi had bought her a Gundam kit to put together, even if she already owned it, at least she put in the effort to try.

He was rather surprised that Kasumi remembered that her sister liked putting together the Gundam model kits, but as he looked away from the shelf and back at her, he couldn't tell if she really did remember or was just confused about what she was looking at. He just raised a brow as he cleared his throat to get her attention. "Figured you were still hanging around the door," he finally replied, then shifted his gaze from Kasumi and back to the model kits. He honestly didn't think she'd venture further into the store based on how she was acting. She seemed to make it this far. Sho wondered how long that was going to last before she did something else that was completely asinine. "You figured out which kit you're going to get her?" he asked her. It was best to keep the topic of conversation on getting Junko the proper gift. However, Sho wasn't opposed to discussing another topic. If it had anything to do with giving her advice, he'd remind her once again, he can't get her advice if she isn't clear on what happened between her and her sister.

Kasumi listens to where Shouta instructed her the figures are located.  He stated how he was going to be off looking at some other items close by.  Kasumi grips her purse strap as she thought Shouta was going to stick beside her the whole time.  What was it Junko liked again?  Gundam or whatever. Kasumi slowly walks the aisle looking at the other figures available.  There were some really nice ones.  Kasumi smiles looking at a female figure in a cute school uniform.  So glad I don’t have to wear that goofy shit anymore.  Although I did make it look good.  She chuckles at the memory.  She gets to the gundam figures and there is a lot.

“Jesus,”
she mutters looking at the selection.  They all look the same to her.  Why does this have to be so hard.  Kasumi pouts tapping her left fist on the side of her thigh for a moment.  Once again she is regretting not paying attention to Junko.  She had been in her sister’s room more times than she can count but doesn’t remember anything Junko owns.  She definitely remembers those god awful clothes she has but outside of that she doesn’t have a clue.  Kasumi folds her arms feeling frustrated.  I should have taken a picture of her room in detail.  That could have been saving my skin right now. She continues to stare at the shelves seeing if anything jogs her memory if Junko has it or not.

Sho was surprised Kasumi went in. Any other time, she'd often complain about how dorky things like this were when she was around Junko and Junko was around him and the others. He'd half expected her to act silly about going in but instead she just simply went in like a normal person but also seemed surprised by how things looked inside. That led him to believe she'd never actually been in a comic shop before. Those who were used to this atmosphere were just chill individuals who were minding their own business, came in with groups of friends, or a group play tabletop games where the store had that area set up for them. That made this venture a lot less painful. Sho followed in after her, collecting a handbasket before turning to the woman who'd asked him where were the figures located.

He didn't expect Kasumi to even remember what her sister liked at all. He kind of pegged her as clueless and uninterested in anything involving her sister. Then again, not knowing at least something was unrealistic considering they lived in the same house. How can one NOT know what someone liked if they were in their own head and just ignoring everything about them on purpose? He didn't dwell on it long enough since Kasumi was expecting an answer from him. Which he'd given by pointing to the exact aisle where he knew all the collectible figurines would be. "There in that aisle," he told her, then said, "I'll be in a couple of aisles in front of it looking for something different. I'll meet you thereafter." He took his leave and headed towards the section of the store where they sold keychains and other property-based items to search for a gift to buy for Junko.

The store wasn’t packed with people but there were other customers venturing down the aisles shopping as well. The only area of the store that was crowded with people was the DND area where there was a large table with a group campaign going on. Sho had only joined seven of the campaigns here which were fun and he didn't feel as if he got screwed over a lot like the campaigns at Zach's place which always made him bring out his secondary character that could nuke the entire board depending on what he rolled. At least here at the store, his cleric character wasn't always put in the weirdest of situations that didn't make sense. The situations were fun but they weren't idiotic as he would describe it.

He'd probably come back in another week or so to join them again. Right now, he had to focus on finding a birthday gift for Junko. He was trying to see if he could find some Jojo merchandise. They had a lot of merchandise in keychains of the different characters. A few of which he'd already bought for her already. He wanted to avoid buying her the same items. He ventured further down the aisle, finding more merchandise of the Jojo property, mixed with other popular anime merchandise. That included a bin with anime posters in it. Sho began looking through the posters to see if there were any Jojo ones in there. As he'd looked through them, he'd seen three but only one of them appeared to have five of the lead male Jojo characters on them. He took that one out of the bin and placed it in the basket he carried. As best he could anyway since it was rather long.

"I think she'll like that one," Sho mumbled then began looking on the shelves for something to add to it. There were also a lot of anime funko pops on one of the shelves and he managed to spot one that was a Jojo character. Sho knew it wasn't a protagonist of one of the iterations, a villain, he just didn't know if Junko had this item already. He grabbed the funko pop item and also placed it in the basket before exiting the aisle. At this point, he wasn't sure if Kasumi was still in the aisle he'd told her to go where she'd find all the figurines but he did tell her he'd look for her there. There were still some more items to get like something to put it in but he wanted to check if the strawberry-blonde woman was having any luck on her own.

Kasumi smiles hearing Shouta say he is willing to listen.  He has done great thus far.  I wish Shouta was more my friend than Junko.  She can’t even appreciate what a great friend he is.  Kasumi knows that Sho is certainly cute but not her type for dating.  She knows for a fact they are better as friends.  Her mind wanders as she recalls her dream man being tall, dark, broad shoulders.  An athlete perhaps….  Kasumi is brought back to reality as Shouta explains he is respectful to everyone he interacts with.  That includes her.  Kasumi blushes from embarrassment as he explains how he doesn’t see her in a good light.

Do all her friends think so poorly of me?  I know I f**ked up but damn.  Why doesn’t anyone ever try to understand me?  Ugh whatever.  At least I didn’t f**k my married professor and get knocked up.  Kasumi drops her head in shame folding her arms.  I’m here trying to be better.  That has to count for something.  Why does this have to be so damn hard?  Kasumi glances at Shouta as it sounds like he knows her situation very well, stating he does get agitated when people can’t resolve an issue with someone they care about.  Kasumi can’t deny it has been 3 years since everything happened.  She felt like she could move on once she got into Valeria University.  To her surprise Valeria University is difficult.  Kasumi assumed she would just get in and be able to fit in and she didn't.  Being known as Junko stupid sister didn’t help.  I was taking my anger out on Junko and that wasn’t fair.  How could I face her after she knows I did something sneaky to get into university.  I can’t let Shouta know.  He will hate me for sure.

Kasumi makes eye contact with Shouta as he echoes what she has been thinking about lately.  Growing up.  Becoming a mature accountable adult.  Making things right with Junko.  She didn’t deserve this.  She never did.  Kasumi feels the need to constantly remind herself Junko didn’t deserve the treatment because she didn’t.  No excuse in the world for how poorly she treated her sister.  Kasumi mind is swimming with all the emotions she has been ignoring for many years.  It has become exhausting to even keep going some days.  She doesn’t feel like she is truly living anymore.  How did she become this lost?  Kasumi blinks away tears giving Shouta a light smile.

“Thank you Shouta,” she replies.  “I’m in the process of learning who I am.” She stops talking knowing this is not the place or time to discuss this. “I am going to rekindle things with Junko.”  Kasumi knows Junko will forgive but it may be a while before she earns her trust.  Kasumi means it.  She wants to be better.  She is not going to be 24 years old forever.  Although she hopes to look 21 forever.  She didn’t spend her money on those expensive face products for nothing. “I appreciate your honesty.  I will do my best.”  Kasumi adjusted her purse, liking the fact he opened the door for her.  Kasumi walks inside looking around never having been in a comic book store.  “Whoa….."

Kasumi was glad to see the store was not crowded.  This makes her feel more comfortable to navigate the store with Shouta.  She instantly feels over dressed as everyone else is tee shirts, jeans, shorts or sneakers.  The store clearly had the AC on.  Kasumi fights to not shiver.  Shivering isn’t cute unless you're on a date.  It’s the perfect test to see if a guy will make you warm.  There are several aisles packed with plenty of items for Kasumi to view.  She has no idea where to start.  She notices a table with a crowd of people who look very involved in whatever they are doing. Oh my god, what will they think seeing me here? Kasumi shakes her head.  It doesn’t matter.  You are an adult just like Shouta said. Act like it.  She turns back to Shouta.

“Do you know where the figures are?” she asks.

From what Sho got out of what Kasumi said, whatever she did a few years ago has put her and Junko in a situation to where they haven't been on speaking terms even to this day. He had more questions and Kasumi was providing vague answers. However, she was at least admitting that the situation that ruined her relationship with her sister is her fault and isn't trying to blame Junko for it. Given how Kasumi has always presented herself, that was one thing he'd expected her to do, yet she didn't. In fact, she sounded genuine in her regret by the tone of her voice. The only thing Sho personally had an issue with is how long the strawberry blonde woman took to even muster the effort to repair what was broken between her and Junko. 'Who the hell waits three years to fix something and you live in the same house?' he couldn't help but question in his head. It made him more curious but respectfully, he wasn't going to push for more information.

That's because as long as Kasumi didn't tell him anything regarding the situation between them, then he could only offer what bit of advice he could muster based on what she was willing to tell him. The green-eyed young man couldn't help but wonder during those three years after the incident that shattered their relationship, did she make attempts to try and mend things before now? He had so many questions but they were out in the open with people around them listening. He didn't believe it would be appropriate to ask right then. However, he couldn't help but be surprised that Kasumi even gave him a compliment. She was usually very obnoxious and airheaded but this was a different side of her she'd never displayed. She appeared more serious but cautious when speaking in general. He could bring that up but he'd chose not to. Instead, he just focused on what she'd said as they continued walking. "I'm willing to listen when someone tells me something," he'd informed her, "but depending on what it is determines how I'm able to provide someone with an honest opinion. Which usually results in me finding someone to be a complete idiot and they never prove me wrong based on how they present themselves."

He sighed a bit, shrugging his shoulders. "However, I keep those comments to myself and try to be respectful to everyone I interact with. That includes you, Kasumi-san," Sho told her. "Even though I don't see you in a very high light as a person but that's based on how you always act when you are actually around any of us." He knew she wouldn't like hearing that but it's the truth. The respectful truth. How she took it was on her. If she got upset and wanted to yell at him for his opinion of her, he was more than happy to leave her hanging alone to shop for a gift for Junko herself. Given that he's been mistreated or annoyed by different people driving him insane with their weird antics, Sho's patience is very thin now. Kasumi was no different. She was just on much thinner ice because he didn't like how she talked to her sister. "Anyway, I don't mind helping people or giving advice if I'm able to but most of the time if I'm asked by someone to help them, it's usually for something stupid they can solve on their own and it just irritates me when people leave things hanging and not do anything about it. Especially if it involves someone they care about."

Sho shifted his gaze to look over at Kasumi and said, "Sometimes you have to be the adult and make amends with those you've hurt. It only fuels the problem when you do nothing about it until it's too late. I would be surprised if Junko accepts a gift from you. But if it's genuine, I don't see why she shouldn't." He'd glanced forward and the comic store was finally in sight. Once they reached the entrance, he placed his hand on the handle but took a moment to look back at Kasumi first, his expression stern. "If you really want to make things right with your sister, maybe you should look at yourself as a person first and think about what put you both in that situation. You've let whatever you did go on for three years and that alone is shameful. I can't say whether or not a birthday gift will break the ice but it's a start somewhere. You're finally trying and that's the best I can offer in terms of advice since I don't know exactly what it is you've done."

Sho was speaking truthfully to Kasumi as he said what he did. And part of that was coming from a little of his own situation but the only difference is his situation with Yuuto involving the fact they hadn't crossed paths for years for them to be able to mend what happened in the past. Whereas Kasumi and Junko still live together at their family shrine and not once did it seem that Kasumi thought until now to fix things between her and Junko. That alone sounded terrible and it spoke quite a bit about who she was as a person and that wasn't being seen in a very good light. She needed to work on herself it would seem but still little by little work on her relationship with Junko. Whether she would do it, wasn't up to Sho. That was up to her. He did take into account this would be the first time he's had a real conversation with her. He couldn't rule everything out. Sighing again, he opened the door to the comic store, standing to the side as he held the door open for the strawberry-blonde woman to go in first.

Kasumi bites the corner of her bottom lip.  She knew for a fact she is mean to Junko in front of her friends but that wasn’t her intent.  She wanted to prove she was nothing like her.  That she is just as smart and prettier.  Kasumi had no idea that Junko's friends were able to see through her bs. She doesn’t talk about me?  Not even negatively…..  Kasumi feels even more guilty.  She doesn’t know if her sister keeps her friends at a distance or if she is trying to protect her.  Shouta clearly doesn’t know what is going on between the two sisters.  He sounds curious but isn’t going to overstep.  Kasumi feels more confident in reaching out to Shouta over the others.  He is already showing he can keep a secret and provide the bit of help Kasumi needs to fix this broken relationship with Junko.

As they continue to walk Kasumi can tell Shouta is deep in thought but able to maintain a conversation with her easily.  How does he do that?  That is a skill I wouldn’t mind learning.  Kasumi focuses on what Shouta is saying.  He doesn’t know what the fight between the two sisters are.  Kasumi is not sure if she should tell Shouta.  It would make her look bad, possibly putting Junko in jeopardy.  It’s not a risk she is willing to take right now.

“It’s been a few years since then,” says Kasumi carefully and slowly. “Um the incident or whatever.” She must select her words wisely. “I admit I screwed up.  This is completely on me and not Junko.  I should have never put her in such a position.”  Kasumi becomes agitated with herself for cheating her way into VU.  Something she could never admit out loud.  She tucks a strand of hair behind her ear to hide how upset she is.  Again Kasumi knows she did it to herself and Junko to an extent. “I know it is not much information to go off.  You being able to listen and provide honest feedback has helped me.”  Kasumi fibbed just a little.  She still feels slightly lost.  She can repair the sister ship but what about school.  Kasumi drops her head knowing she is close to flunking out of VU.  She has to do something or else this is going to be even worse for her.  Why do I feel this way?  It’s like I’m in high school again about to repeat a grade.  I don’t want to feel that way again.  Kasumi shakes her head putting her game face on.

“Um as I mentioned earlier….I don’t know a lot about Junko.  Just mostly what I can remember before the incident.  I was thinking one of those cool anime figures or something.” Kasumi knows if she was super into anime she would love one of those 80 dollar figures of her favorite character.  Kasumi can picture Junko setting it on her desk.  Maybe even smile knowing her sister gave it to her in good faith.  Kasumi releases a deep breath knowing she is taking a step in the right direction.

Sho raised a brow at the first and second parts of Kasumi's explanation. "I wasn't aware that you two were on speaking terms hardly ever," he replied. "Anytime you show up, you're rather rude to your sister and it just confuses me as to why." He sighed. "At the same time, it's not my business. If Junko-san really wanted me to know, I'm sure she would've told me. Apparently, she doesn't and it's why I've never bothered to ask. Now if there's anything else as of recent that's happened, I would not be at all aware of it. Junko-san is pretty private about her life outside of her interest in her hobbies and drowning herself in her studies. Which is fine but even I had to learn that it's okay to take a break from it from time to time," he told her. That was one thing he definitely noticed about Junko was that she was always seen with a textbook and working on her class assignments. Most of the time before they're even due.

Sho remembered having done that just so he could enter a good high school and try to forget about the friendship he didn't have anymore with Yuuto. But he didn't want to think about it right now. However, it seemed he ended up gaining stranger friends that constantly made him question his friendship with them a lot. Each for varying reasons. But everyone had their own thing going on, including Junko. If there was something he didn't know about, that really wasn't any fault of his own. Sho tended to not dig into the personal lives of his friends because it's not his business what they do when they're not hanging out with them. However, if they're in trouble and they reach out to him, he'll be there if they need him to be. If they don't and something happened, then it's not his fault if they never said anything at all about it.

However, the last thing Kasumi said made him unable to help but mentally question just what happened between her and Junko. Whatever it was, it was obvious by the woman's words that the incident that occurred between the sisters gives a somewhat better understanding of why they don't act as if they're related when they are. Seeing as Sho didn't know what happened as Kasumi had not said, he would only be able to give her advice based on what information she gave him. He could tell from listening to her that some part of her was very bothered by it. "I don't know if I'll be able to help much, especially without knowing what actually happened. I'd pretty much be grasping at straws. But it does make sense why the two of you hardly act like sisters when you're around one another," Sho replied with a small sigh. "Anyway, do you know what you're planning on buying her for a gift?" he asked her. Surely Kasumi would be aware of what her sister liked or it's possible she was going to pick any random item and go with it. 'Well, that would explain me being here to help her,' Sho thought.

Kasumi notices that Shouta mumbles a response to her thank you.  She can’t help but feel that he doesn’t like her. He doesn’t want to be here.  He is clearly here for Junko.  It’s always to be about fucking Junko.  Even though Kasumi is ready to repair their relationship it is still hard for her to deal with the fact Junko has a friend while she doesn’t….  Sure Kasumi will speak over Junko when they are around her friends.  Outside of that Kasumi feels alone more than she would ever care to admit.  Shouta asks was she not able to find anyone else to help her on a search for Junko’s gift.  Kasumi thinks about how she should answer without sounding like a bitch.  Before Kasumi says anything, Shouta adds how this is last minute searching for a gift.

Kasumi doesn’t know anything about buying gifts.  She doesn’t have any friends.  Never been in a relationship.  Is there a right way and a wrong way to do this?  How can she really tell Shouta that she wasn’t going to get Junko anything for her birthday.  Kasumi was going to continue on with life as usual.  However she has been thinking about it for some time.  Kasumi was literally painting her toenails when she decided to move forward with getting Junko a present.  She sought Shouta out knowing he could help with a gift and guidance.  They continue to walk when Kasumi finds the words to answer Shouta’s question.  She begins to fidget with her fingers becoming nervous.

“Well to my understanding Junko doesn’t have that many friends,” Kasumi says her voice low.  “Junko and I are not exactly on speaking terms.  We are cordial but nothing more.” Kasumi doesn’t realize how tone death she is at this moment.  She is not thinking about all the mean or rude comments she has openly said to Junko.  Her mind is focused on how she treats Junko at home behind closed doors.  She wouldn’t dare disrespect Junko in front of their dad  Kasumi takes a shaky breath.

“There was an incident that caused the rift between Junko and I.  I chose you to help me because I trust your judgment.  I wanted advice on how to be close to my sister again.  I figured buying her a nice gift would be a great start.  I know this was last minute and for that I’m sorry.  I just want my sister back and I didn’t know what else to do.”  Kasumi stops talking as feels herself becoming emotional.  It’s the first time she has ever cared about Junko in years.  For so long she shut off her emotions concerning her sister.  She doesn’t need Shouta seeing her like this. She doesn’t need his pity.  Just his help and advice.  Kasumi feels stupid and sad that she has to rely on Junko’s friend Shouta for help.  She can’t picture it being anyone else to handle such a task.

"Hrn." Was his response. Sho was indifferent towards her thanks. He just wondered how busy was she before today that she couldn't have asked or even done this sooner for her sister. At least that way she wouldn't have had to worry about doing this at the last minute and rushing to find something for her. Based on what Kasumi said about Junko being clingy sounded quite strange. Usually, the two of them barely acknowledge one another as siblings so he still couldn't help but wonder what made Junko all of a sudden decide to want to come with her today. All of it just sounded weird. More so that she specifically asked him when he wasn't the only person that Junko talked to. She could've asked one of the others to go with her today. He wouldn't have been sure if they were free but she could've at least asked them first to see. He wasn't even sure if she bothered to do that. Yet Sho was curious if she did which is why he asked. "Were you not able to find the others to ask to do this with you before asking me? Feels like you asked me because I was the first one you found," he replied as he kept walking.

"It's fine I guess but would've been better if you'd asked sooner so it didn't feel like this had to be a rushed errand." It was already difficult to shop for friends when their birthdays came around or even the holidays. Sometimes their interests remained the same and other times, they changed, they were into new things which meant trying to research merchandise related to it. Sho preferred to have things done in advance which would give him time to pick out something he hoped his friends would like. Not ... like this ... This was last minute and he didn't know what their stock was like today in terms of the shelves having anything. He'd only find out once they got there. They were getting closer to the store. It was just three more stores down but the plaza had businesses spaced either too far apart or too close and in this case, the comic store was one of those places spaced too far apart from everything. In the meantime, he just waited for Kasumi to respond to his question.

I see.  I see!  What is that suppose to mean!?  Does he not believe me or something?  Kasumi falls into her own head riddle with thoughts.  What if he thinks I’m like Junko….  I’m nothing like Junko.  I’m better!  I’m…. Kasumi is pulled from her thoughts when she realizes that Shouta has moved from his post on the wall and began walking down the street.  Kasumi feels stupid as he asks if she is coming.  Kasumi hurriedly walks over to him.

“Um thank you,” she replies.  “For doing this.” Kasumi begins to walk beside Shouta to the comic book store.  Kasumi has never been to a comic book store.  While she is curious she almost doesn’t want to go into the store.  Are they even any good looking guys in the comic book store?  Probably not.  Kasumi glances at Shouta who is continuing to walk.  It feels like he is as much in his head as she is.  For the first time in a while Kasumi feels like she did in elementary.  All set on making a good first impression but fucks it up somehow.  Kasumi feels better knowing she is cute and doing something nice for her sister.  Kasumi tries to take her mind off her troubles aiming to come up with a gift idea.  She quickly gives up remembering that is why she needed Shouta help.  God I’m useless.

Sho sweat dropped at Kasumi’s answer to his question. “I see…” Junko didn’t come across as clingy to him. Normally, she didn’t seem interested in anything Kasumi was doing so it was rather odd that this time around she wanted to tag along with her. He couldn’t help but sweat drop when she’d taken out a compact mirror to check her face. He never would’ve known this woman was related to Junko had she not said so. He originally thought of her to be someone Junko had known but was an American woman. Turned out to not be the case and had been told that Kasumi tends to focus way too much on her appearance and it showed.

Well, she’s finally here. Might as well get this over with,’ Sho thought as he used his foot to push himself off the wall he’d been leaning up against and turned to begin walking in the direction of where the store was located. Though he looked back to see if Kasumi began to follow or was she going to just stand there. This was more her idea than it was his to go shopping for her sister. "You coming? The sooner we can find something for Junko-san, the better because the store will close soon," he said to her then turned his head to look forward.

Kasumi can’t help but notice how Shouta is staring at her. Do I have something on my face?  Kasumi pulls out a compact mirror to check her face.  No, I look fine.  Why is he staring at me like that?  Is he that upset that I am late?  Kasumi immediately feels stupid.  It’s not her fault Junko was trying to tag along.  If not for her parents calling about the baby Junko wouldn’t have left her side.  Since when does Junko care to even go on shopping trips?  Well I do have more style than her.  Can’t blame the girl.  Kasumi comes to with Shouta inquiring about what Junko thought she was doing.

“Junko knows I am going shopping,” she explains.  “She usually doesn’t tag along and was rather…..clingy.” Kasumi shifts uncomfortably.  This would be the one time Junko decided to tag along.  Kasumi figured she would try to entertain Junko but after 30 minutes she needed her gone.  Had her parents not called she would still be there.  She would have been even later.  Kasumi bites the corner of her bottom lip fumbling with the strap of her purse.

Kasumi had finally shown up at what seemed like forever. Sho couldn’t help but raise a brow at not her late arrival but what she was wearing. She wasn’t dressed the way she was or wearing what he felt to be more excessive makeup than she’d had on earlier. Why did she need to do all of that? If she has time do do all of this and be late, she could’ve gone alone to shop for a gift for Junko-san,’ he thought. He did question why she was late outside of the obvious until she’d stated she tried to lose her sister in order to get here. The whole point of doing something like this was to keep it a secret. Defeats the purpose if she made it somehow obvious she was going out to do something such as this.. Sho figured she probably slipped up and did but he thought it was odd Junko would try to follow Kasumi as if she was up to no good. She was hardly up to anything such as that and if she was, he definitely would’ve wanted no part in it. This was the only thing she’d asked him to go with her and do.

It was the only thing he’d agreed to do with her. He hadn’t agreed to do anything else outside of going with Kasumi to shop for a birthday gift for Junko. That was it. If he had to be honest, the two of them really didn’t act like sisters towards each other and it confused him quite a bit. Sadie and Howard acted more like actual siblings and acknowledged in some way they were related while Kasumi and Junko were the opposite. Alas, this wasn’t the time to hurt his brain at the differences between all four of them. Kasumi finally showed up and they could do what they were here for. Sho shoved his hands in his pockets as he simply stared at the strawberry blonde-haired young woman. “What exactly did Junko-san think you were going out to do?” Sho asked. By how Kasumi appeared, the obvious assumption would be to assume Kasumi got dressed up to go out on a date, not going out to look for a birthday gift. It made him wonder how little was Kasumi trusted to go off on her own. Sounded quite sad if she had to shake her family just to go out somewhere.

God damnit I am running late, thinks Kasumi.  Thanks a lot Junko.  Junko was acting like they needed to be joined at the hip today.  Usually Junko is off doing her school thing while Kasumi herself is working on finding her own interests.  Kasumi recently had to resign from the university.  Many days she wonders why she even bothered cheating her way into college.  It wasn’t worth it.  Maybe she can go back but for something she is passionate about.  What is she passionate about?  Kasumi shakes her head knowing she needs to focus on finding a gift for Junko.  Now is not the time for self reflection.  She has plenty of time for that later.

Kasumi is quickly making her way down the street towards the cafe.  Maybe she should have worn better shoes.  Kasumi is pink flats and not sneakers.  Huge difference.  She is going for casual cute without trying too hard.  One never knows who they may run into on the street.  Kasumi refuses to leave the house without being put together.  She has a bare minimum makeup routine, medium makeup routine, and high end makeup routine.  The high end makeup routine was usually for special occasions or dates Kasumi wishes she went on more often.  Today she is wearing a pink tank top with medium tint skinny jeans and some pink flats.  She didn’t have time to do her medium makeup look and settled for a bare minimum look today.  Simple mascara, eyebrows filled and some tinted gloss.  Her purse is white, slightly trendy, and has a strap which is perfect for shopping.

I have got to do better.  Starting now. Kasumi knows very little about Junko at all.  They live together, they are sisters, yet strangers.  Junko doesn’t have that many friends but she does seem to have an okay friendship with Shouta.  Junko would never suspect Kasumi to approach anyone to find her a gift.  They run in different circles for the most part.  It’s bad Kasumi had to even request Shouta to help her pick a gift for her own sister.  Kasumi was honest but lied a little bit.  She told Shouta it was too dorky for her to go into the store alone and she needed help picking out a gift.  She mostly needs help picking out a gift and doesn’t want Junko to know.  She can’t surprise her if she has to ask 99 questions.  This seems to be the best option.

Kasumi huffs as she does want a better relationship with Junko.  Why not start on Junko’s birthday.  That is the problem about not talking to her sister often.  Whenever Kasumi did it was when she had one up on Junko.  In school Kasumi was constantly compared to her sister.  It drove her mad.  She began to lash out at Junko at school when others were around.  She refuses to allow Junko to look better than her.  Junko was already the perfect child getting her little perfect grades in school.  Kasumi rolls her eyes at the thought.  She knows it is childish but old habits die hard.

Kasumi can see Shouta standing in front of the cafe he agreed to meet her at.  She can see his annoyance from here.  Kasumi curses under her breath as she approaches him.  This is not how she wanted things to start off.  She is almost 20 minutes late.

“Shouta,” she calls out as she gets closer.  Kasumi adjusted her purse strap on her shoulder stopping in front of Shouta. “Sorry I’m late.  I had a hard time shaking Junko.”  Kasumi swings her hair off her shoulder smiling sweetly at Shouta.

Sho was annoyed. He shouldn’t have agreed to the idea of being here simply based on that reason. That and the person whom he was supposed to meet with was not someone he favored. It was Junko’s older sister Kasumi who out of the blue approached him on her own asking if he could help her pick out a birthday gift for her sister. All because she didn’t want to go alone to do it and because she found it embarrassing and dorky. That line of logic confused him since nobody in university cared about what someone did in their own time. That was usually grades like junior high and high school where everyone seemed to care and ridiculed a person for it. He’d know because he experienced that very same ridicule from people. It was not something he favored and he was very glad to be done with both.

He didn’t know anyone who still had such a child-like mentality once they reached university. He always saw that as a mindset that people didn’t have once, they knew what it felt like to buckle down and focus on their studies while trying to find time for themselves as much as they possibly could as a university student. He also had to remember that a varying amount of his friends weren’t also intelligent either so there was that. Although, he didn’t consider Kasumi a friend. He viewed her as no more than Junko’s sister. Outside of that, he knew nothing about her outside of how obnoxious she could be at times and how terrible she treated her sister. It made him wonder a lot if she hated Junko for some odd reason.

Regardless, it wasn’t his place. Since she bothered him at an inconvenient time, Sho agreed to meet up with Kasumi at a cafe in the city where there was a comic store he knew of that sold plenty of things there for those who were into comics, games, and other cultural-related things. They also sold manga there which he knew he didn’t have to buy any for Junko as a gift. As it was last minute, he decided not to bother his father for any manga he may have had on hand. Instead, he was going to find some items in the store for her as a gift. Again, it was last minute but respectfully, he was Junko’s friend even if she could be strange at times, he liked being friends with her. So it was the least he could do since she never mentioned her birthday before. She was a lot more socially awkward than him which was something he noticed about her.

In the meantime, he continued to wait on Kasumi and he pulled out his phone to check and see what time it was. He wanted to get this done before it got too late. Again, she didn’t give him much of an option outside of him outright refusing because he found her reasoning for not doing it on her own to be dumb and insulting but he let it go. The faster he could get this over with, the sooner he could get home and finish working on his comic story. “Where is she?” he mumbled, slightly annoyed as he put his phone away in his pocket while leaning up against the wall of the building in the plaza area he was in. Still by the cafe. Waiting.
