PERSONALITY: Ai Imai is the third generation owner of the Keio Plaza Love Hotel and a hopeless romantic. She sees the business as not only a source of revenue, but a place where her customers love can bloom free from prying eyes and naysayers. This tends to result in her spending an undue amount of time making sure the business thrives (coupons, cheesy ads and fliers, even encouraging her employees to partake in discounted rooms.) To say she's passionate about love is an understatement, however she has little luck in her own pursuits of it. Many of her relationships have had little to show for her efforts, though poor choices in men and women, or maybe being a bit too romantically zealous and trying everything she could think of, and some things she read in her favorite books. Often times when it comes to her employees and the occasional client who had a bad time or cold feet, she takes on a motherly approach to interactions, coddling, soothing, giving advice and sometimes just lending an ear or shoulder to cry on. May the gods in whatever forms they may take have mercy on the souls of those who dare try to harm any of them intentionally, either physically or emotionally.
APPEARANCE: Ai certainly inherited some good genetics. She often dyes her hair blonde and wears black dresses that leave little to the imagination.
HISTORY: Ai Imai has been a Tokyo resident her whole life, and has lived a pretty normal life all things considered until adulthood. Nothing too out of the ordinary occurred for her but at a young age she became absolutely enamored with the concept of romance and love. Concepts that were painted rose colored by the numerous books she found growing up, not limited to those published in Japanese, but a good number of books she'd found in English and a few in Spanish that she never quite understood well, that showed all kinds of love.
Courtly Love of the Arthurian tales, Enduring Love from stories of lovers who grow old in each others arms, Mania from some less than family oriented books she found at an in high school that maybe she shouldn't have been reading. When she finally came to understand what her family business was in her own way, it was described to her as a place where love and passion could flourish unabated. It was a role she aspired to be able to ascend to and uphold, upon becoming the head of the family business. That said not everything has gone to plan outside of that.
She's been engaged twice and once left at the altar to her dismay, and ghosted entirely by her lover who just vanished one day, but she doesn't give up hope that she can find her one true love. After all, her self proclaimed matchmaking skills were through the roof, and she wasn't going to let a misstep or two topple her confidence, especially since she's heard recently that strong confident women were in nowadays too. Until then she'd have to settle for making sure every room in her hotel was a place where the seed of love could sprout and bloom safely.
