PERSONALITY: Zach is generally a relaxed kind of guy, who'd rather spend a day at home playing games with friends, or really just doing anything in a group or cuddling with his Fiancée, than go out and do stuff alone. Generally forgetful, generally terrible with directions, he's almost positive he's got ADHD but he really doesn't want to visit a doctor to get that checked out. He's always happy to help someone that needs it, even though sometimes he shouldn't for his own sake. He's given far more money than he probably should have to people that probably didn't need it, but he finds a bit of pride in the thought that at least one of them really needed it.
He loves a good story and on more than a few occasions has gone on a whole writing spree to flesh out a thought that in all likelihood won't find relevance afterward, but it was interesting enough to hook him from the start. Similarly so he enjoys thorough discussion and debate on things, enjoying a nice civil chat about something and finding a new point of view. Part of the reason he likes to do that is to better understand what others think, not only for empathy's sake, but because he absolutely hates misunderstandings that could be resolved with just a slight bit more conversation.
APPEARANCE:
HISTORY: Zach was born in the USA, bouncing all around his home state for most of his early childhood until high school where he made a few long time friends and well, otherwise did not have a great time. After four long years at a pretty awful school he graduated and entered the workforce, going from retail to customer service, and from there into manual labor and some clerical positions until he landed in the field he wanted to be in IT. His bosses were impressed with his aptitude for picking up new skills and offered him a chance at a degree if he was willing to relocate for a while. Not wanting to waste the opportunity he took the leap and the next thing he knew he was in Tokyo and struggling with a new language he was only familiar with thanks to anime. Thankfully through some odd legal loopholes and possibly illegal shenanigan's he was able to secure a home for himself thanks to his father and grandmother's connections.
His first year at the Academy was a bit rough. The pay wasn't stellar since he wasn't there purely as technician, getting used to the new currency and shopping regularly for himself was also a challenge. Luckily his dad had a friend that ran a pub in the city who would give him a discount on bar food but that only helped so much, and that only lasted until he went berserk on a patron that slipped something in a girls drink. For his own safety the owner recommended he not return, though this went from a loss to a boon as one of the bars regulars a woman by the name of Kesshō, who he'd been chatting with for a while at that point would come to ask about renting out his guest room shortly afterward.
After a while they ended up dating though after some incompatibilities arose, her poor money management and drinking, and his homebody and overthinking tendencies most of all, they settled into a casual friends with benefits relationship. This lasted up until a little after Zach began dating Sasha, and that relationship went from open to closed after Zach realized that he wasn't comfortable doing those sorts of things without Sasha at least present. Though Zach still considers her a good friend wonders at times if Kesshō regrets this change, or if it's just his imagination that she seems...different ever since he brought up proposing to Sasha. He hopes it hasn't changed anything between them too much.
Recently graduated Zach now continues his work at the University while doing the electronic repair job for students and neighbors for extra cash on the side, and enjoying the free time he has now that he's no longer a student. Finally engaged with Sasha he's also naturalized to be a citizen of Japan, no longer requiring a visa to stay, though that was a very awkward conversation with his family back home, and certainly not one he expected to have when he first moved to the island nation. That said, there's nowhere else he'd rather be now than with Sasha, his soon to be wife who also hates the heat as much if not more than he does.
