Darlibagi Shrine / Re: Sho, Can You Help Me
« on: August 10, 2025, 03:10:00 pm »
It wasn't long after Sho had set his phone down after texting Kasumi that she'd called him. He picked up his phone to answer it. Right away, the strawberry blonde woman had answered, immediately telling him that her talk with Junko didn't go well. He let her finish speaking and didn't say anything until he knew she was done. He gave a small sigh as he set his pencil down on his desk. "I'm not surprised that it didn't go well. You have to remember how long it took you to even talk one on one with your sister," he told her. He knew this wasn't something Kasumi wanted to hear, but she needed to, to understand how Junko feels. She can't expect her to accept anything she says to her after how she's treated her for so many years.

Anyone who had a sibling who mistreated them for years on end would probably cut ties with them. Kasumi should be lucky that it hasn't happened. She was going to have to get Junko space. Whether or not Junko even wants to speak to Kasumi was up to her. No one can force her. "Gomen, that it didn't go well, Kasumi-san," Sho replied, "but you're going to have to give Junko-san space. If you force it, it's not going to end well. Just ... give her time," he told her. He hoped that Kasumi would take his advice. He knew she wanted to make amends with her sister, but that wasn't going to be something that would happen immediately. Right now, he knew that Kasumi was feeling like she had failed, and he knew she needed to talk. "How are you feeling right now?" Sho asked.

Sho was in his room, currently working on the latest chapter to the story he's been working on. He was already four chapters ahead of the team of artists he had working on the drawings for it, but he wanted to keep them busy and give them work to do. There were times like this he wished he were good at drawing, but he only felt that way because he didn't like bothering others. Having had bad experiences with that when he was younger, but he's gotten over it for the most part. Plus, he technically had no choice since he'd agreed to accept the offer to turn his story into a manga with Yuuto being at the helm of it as his editor. That was already awkward enough, all things considered, but he was pushing the feelings he had regarding Yuuto away to focus on the very thing he went to school for.

He still kept his job at Sadie's bookstore to earn some extra income on the side. He wasn't going to entirely depend on what income he managed to make from his story being published, and he'd already set up a backup plan in case things failed. He'd keep his job at the bookstore and alternate between working full-time and part-time hours for Sadie. Any income from that job he'd save and use for his living expenses. It was the main reason why he was living at the Monagasa Inn. Sho was living within his means. Even though he had high-profile friends with connections, he chose not to use them. Their wealth is their own. It was never like him to depend on others or take from them.

It was usually always assumed because of who he hung out with, which he disliked greatly. At the same time, he saw no need to have to constantly explain himself to strangers who didn't know him. After a while, he stopped doing that. He did it a lot when he was in his teens, but hardly at all now. If anything, Sho was cynical and easily annoyed by the stupidity of others. Which his current group of friends seems to have taken notice of. However, the only person who seems to get annoyed out of all of them is Zach. Thinking about that made the green-eyed young man roll his eyes as he continued to sit there writing. He was always questioning why Sho responds the way he does whenever any of them say or do anything.

Yeah, how would anyone respond to their friends acting like horny idiots. Annoyed, obviously. Why that bothered Zach so much, he had no idea. Despite finding it weird, Sho didn't care enough to ask. He knew way too much about Zach's and everyone else's sex lives than he would've liked. Nothing seemed personal anymore. He sighed, shaking his head. He decided not to put much thought into it as he continued writing. It was right then that his phone on his desk began buzzing. He wasn't expecting a text from anyone about anything important. Outside of gathering at Zach's house for another D&D session that would go sideways like it always did, Sho figured that's what it was about. Setting his pencil down, he grabbed his phone to check to see who had texted him. He was going to turn down meeting up since he was currently busy, but when he checked his phone, he raised a brow to see a familiar name from someone he didn't expect at all to message him.

Darlibagi Kasumi. Junko's older sister. He'd met up with her sometime ago to help her shop for a birthday gift for Junko. It went from that to sitting down with her and finding out there was a lot more going on with Junko than he'd ever realized was happening. It made Sho a little sad that Junko never tried to talk to him and allowed herself to get mixed up in a situation with someone who left her pregnant. It made him wonder if any of the others knew about this and just never mentioned it around him. But why? Junko clearly needed some sort of guidance and support, and if the others knew about what was going on with her, why would they hide it from him if they were all friends? 'Iie...' He shook his head. There's the off chance none of them knew either. As much as Sadie cared about everyone, Sho knew that she'd definitely say something to him about it. If only to reach out and help Junko.

But there was no one who said anything. That had to have meant they knew nothing. Right? He frowned, pushing those thoughts out of his mind as he began reading Kasumi's text message. From the looks of it, it would seem she wanted to know if he had a moment to talk. Looking at the time on his phone, it was pretty late in the afternoon already. That meant he'd been writing since the time he'd woken up today and not gone out at all. He did eat something, which he knew Yuuto would chastise him for if he didn't. As for Kasumi, he sent a reply back to her saying that he was free to talk if she wanted to call him. Talking through text would get tiring for him after a while. For Sho, it was just easier to talk over the phone if not in person with someone. However, since this was Kasumi, he was leaving that decision entirely up to her, since this would be the second time she'd reached out to him about anything. He never got that from Junko...

"Okay." Was Sho's response as Yuuto had decided to play a round of the crane game. He'd half expected him to choose another to play, but he wasn't complaining. Both of them winning a large plush cat sounds rather comical, but Sho knew he would be giving his away to Saeko since she has that originally stray kitten that's now grown into a cat as her pet that was given to her by Howard, he figured she would like this. If she didn't, there was always Sadie, who just liked anything adorable. Unless stated otherwise.

He stood there in silence, holding onto the plush cat he'd won as he'd watched Yuuto insert money into the machine and begin playing the first round of the game. As he watched him, he noticed he was going for one of the stuffed brownish-looking plush cats with the green bib around its neck. There appeared to be only two in the machine, while there were more of the other ones inside. The one Yuuto was going for appeared separated from the other one. 'It's probably best he went for the one further. Trying to go for the one closer usually ends with spending more money for it to constantly fall or the claw never gripping it properly,' Sho thought. That was how he played the game anyway. It gave him more of a challenge to try and grab an item from an impossible spot and move it as close to the drop box as he could. Sometimes he'd win on the first try, and other times he'd take him two more tries to get it.

But that was due to Sho having more patience than others did when it came to the crane games. That and he'd played them so much when he was younger, one would have no choice but to learn to be patient with a difficult game such as this. And everyone had their own way of playing a game that was easier and made sense to them. It didn't always work for others. As expected, he'd seen Yuuto's first attempt at grabbing the plush cat he was going for end with him not winning it. The claw grabbed a part of the plush that was very noticeable that it was going to slip out. 'He almost had it,' he thought, sheepishly scratching the side of his face with his left index finger while holding his own winning with his right arm. He figured Yuuto would want to try another game, but was surprised when asked for advice before he attempted to play again.

"Eh?" That was Sho's initial response as he, again, was not expecting the other to try the game for another round. "Um, I play the game a little bit differently," he'd told him. "I don't always go for an item that's already closest to the drop box already and get it where it want it to try again." That was the best way he felt he could explain it, but he didn't know if that would work for Yuuto. He could give it a try to see. That's all he could do.

Central District / Re: Junko's Birthday Gift (Kasumi) - Recap
« on: August 02, 2025, 09:30:34 pm »
Sho was going to collect some more things to properly set up the gifts he was going to give Junko for her birthday, but he decided first to see if Kasumi managed to find her way to the aisle he'd instructed her to go to, where most of the Gundam figurines were located. He left the aisle he was on and headed in that direction. There, he'd found Kasumi standing there blankly at the model Gundam kits with a confused look on her face. He remembered that Junko did enjoy putting together model Gundams in her spare time. He was unsure of how often she did them or even how many she had owned and done already. It's why he stuck with buying her other anime-related items he knew she'd like. But even if Kasumi had bought her a Gundam kit to put together, even if she already owned it, at least she put in the effort to try.

He was rather surprised that Kasumi remembered that her sister liked putting together the Gundam model kits, but as he looked away from the shelf and back at her, he couldn't tell if she really did remember or was just confused about what she was looking at. He just raised a brow as he cleared his throat to get her attention. "Figured you were still hanging around the door," he finally replied, then shifted his gaze from Kasumi and back to the model kits. He honestly didn't think she'd venture further into the store based on how she was acting. She seemed to make it this far. Sho wondered how long that was going to last before she did something else that was completely asinine. "You figured out which kit you're going to get her?" he asked her. It was best to keep the topic of conversation on getting Junko the proper gift. However, Sho wasn't opposed to discussing another topic. If it had anything to do with giving her advice, he'd remind her once again, he can't get her advice if she isn't clear on what happened between her and her sister.

Sho was focused on the task at hand, as once the game finished gearing up, he carefully moved the claw toward the plush cat he was trying to get earlier. He positioned the claw just right before pressing the button to drop it down again and grab the item in question. Since it was close to where he needed to drop it, it didn't take much effort to grab the cat and quickly maneuver the claw to the drop slot to be released. He'd managed to win it without having to do too many rounds in an attempt to get it, and knelt down to grab said plush cat out of the dropbox of the machine, and was now holding it. It clearly appeared bigger than him, but he managed to win something. Turning around, he was facing Yuuto, who'd been quiet the entire time, and watching him, he'd been lost in his own head, trying to focus on what he was doing; he wasn't paying attention to anyone else around him.

Holding onto the plush cat like a pillow, his attention was focused on Yuuto as he finally spoke up. "Did you want to try a different game or play the claw machine yourself?" he'd asked. He wasn't sure if Yuuto was interested in the claw machine. Only those who liked taking chances when the odds are against them tended to, but he wouldn't be bothered if the other wanted to move on to a different game. They had plenty to choose from and didn't have to wait for anyone else to finish their turn on the games either. Sho personally just liked the claw machines because he just liked attempting to win something. He usually goes no more than three rounds on them. The only time he'd go more is if there was something specific in the machine that he wanted. Which was rare. Most claw machines had the same type of items. In the meantime, he stood there waiting for Yuuto's answer.

The air of silence washed over the entire room as Sho and Yuuto sat there eating. The request from Yuuto to call him by his first name would come up, but each time, it would end up exactly like right now - awkward. Sho felt terrible for not giving in to Yuuto's request. He wanted to, but part of him couldn't do it. He knows Yuuto is trying and doing what he can to make amends. Sho is willing to acknowledge that. However, there was a reason he was keeping the wall up between them. The internal struggle he had with that reason was something he was trying to figure out on his own. It always weighed heavily on him because he kept it to himself. The silence between them was palpable as they sat there, continuing to eat. Sho was lost in his thoughts, and Yuuto seemed lost in his world.

Then suddenly, Yuuto finished eating first and got up from the table, turning to Sho, who blinked in surprise when told that he'd be right back. He didn't say anything. He only nodded and finished the rest of his meal. At first, Sho thought that maybe the other had gone to the restroom, but then pondered on that a bit longer and believed Yuuto was upset at him for not responding to his request. He couldn't help but sigh, running his fingers through his hair. This made him feel more terrible than he already did. He knew Yuuto wanted things between them to return to how they were when they were students, but Sho wasn't there yet. He didn't know when he would be emotionally. Everything was just happening so fast that his mind couldn't keep up with it all.

To take his mind off his thoughts while Yuuto was away, Sho got up from the table, brought his empty glass with him, and walked toward the counter where Yuuto had left the wine bottle. It was rare that he ever felt the need the drink more than what he was in the mood for, but in this case, the green-eyed young man did not want to be left alone with his own thoughts. Grabbing the bottle, he filled up his empty glass and, without hesitation, downed it instantly. He'd done this twice before coming to the realization that he'd had way too much, and he was finally starting to feel the alcohol affect him a little bit. He didn't even realize Yuuto had returned and just gave him a blank and empty stare. His face was flushed from the alcohol in his system, and he felt embarrassed about that. Now, he was causing more problems than either of them needed.

"Shit..." was the response he gave, placing his hand against his head as it lightly began to pound. It wasn't as bad as the stuff Sadie usually had that had him with a massive headache, but that still didn't mean he felt better. "Gomen," he apologized, carefully placing the glass on the counter, then slowly began walking, attempting to leave. "I s-should go," he mumbled as he tried to walk past Yuuto, only to almost trip over, but luckily, he managed to grip his hand on the wall of the entryway of the kitchen to avoid a catastrophe.

Although Yuuto had said what he did softly, Sho was able to hear what he said. He was telling him that he could address him by his first name since they weren't strangers. It was fairly obvious Yuuto didn't like being addressed by his surname, and that was to do with his disdain for his stepparents' interfering in his life since the day he was placed in their care. While it is customary for people to address others by their surname out of respect for the person, there were times it was fine to call them by their first name if that's what they wanted. The problem with that is that Sho never called Yuuto by his full first name, only a shortened rendition of it, because they were close friends back in junior high.

The other never complained that he had an issue with being addressed as 'Yuu-chan', so that's what he'd always called him. Sho was an adult now, not a teenager. It seemed childish and inappropriate to call Yuuto that. Even addressing him by his first name seemed difficult but for different reasons. 'I know we're not strangers, but I don't feel comfortable calling you by your name. Don't ... ask me to do that,' Sho thought with a small frown. He chose not to respond to Yuuto's request. He instead responded to what he'd said after. "Hrn," was his response as he ate more food from his plate.

There was that awkward silence again. It wasn't intentional, but usually, specific topics and requests caused Sho to shut Yuuto out. It wasn't hard for Sho himself to realize he was having an internal struggle. He didn't want to mentally and emotionally drain himself regarding his past and present with Yuuto, so he would always focus his mind on other things, just like he was doing right now. He was going to focus on having fun at the convention. He wasn't opposed to going with Yuuto since he'd invited him to tag along for the weekend of the event. So that's what he was going to do. Have fun.

Sho hadn't thought about focusing much on working while attending the convention. The only thing he would do is try and find some downtime to write if he could, but if he couldn't, he wouldn't worry about it and just focus on having some fun since it'd been a while since he'd had any. It didn't cross his mind to go out of his way to promote his story, which was currently in production. Rather, he wanted to make new connections in the form of meeting new people. Sho always felt like he was hanging out with the same group of people, and he wanted to actually try putting himself out there to befriend new people who don't have annoying and weird habits. His classmate and friend, Haruka, who was also a creative writing major, was the only one who didn't have any weird and annoying habits. Outside of his strange interest in writing murder mystery stories and taking great pride in annoying the hell out of their professor with them, he was a fairly normal person.

But since he'd been busy as of late, Sho hadn't been able to really hang out with anyone. So he understood Yuuto's concern regarding his focus on work instead of having fun. The intention of going was to have fun, and if he had downtime to spare, he'd try to write a little bit. Of course, he didn't want to say that out loud since Yuuto was worried enough about him not taking any time off. Sho could admit to not doing that. He wasn't fooling around with his studies. He really wanted to graduate and fully focus on his writing career. But even he needed to unwind sometimes. As he sat there, he finally decided to eat the food Yuuto had cooked for them. He'd only ever eaten takeout whenever the two were together, so this would be the first time he'd eaten anything he made. It was very delicious. He had no complaints. He took the time to swallow his food before speaking again. "I understand, Usui-san," he said to him.

"However, I think you're assuming I was talking about work when I said I wanted to form new connections." Sho took the glass of wine in his hand and finished what remained in the glass before setting it back down on the table. "I want to meet new people. I'll probably be so focused on enjoying the convention that I won't have any free time to write anything. But it isn't a main focus so it's not something I'll be worried about needing to do. As you said, we just need to focus on having fun." Sho scratched the side of his face lightly. While he should be used to being around Yuuto, he still can't help but feel awkward at times around him. Having discussions regarding the two of them having fun was still not something he was used to hearing initiated by Yuuto.

Strangely, it reminded him that this was something he wanted back then, when the two of them were still close friends, for Yuuto to be more engaging and energetic. Now that he was, Sho didn't know how to respond, much less deal with it, and he just always felt awkward. 'It doesn't help that he says things that could easily mean something else,' Sho thought, his cheeks flushing again. Referring to Yuuto inviting him over for dinner and how it felt intimate while knowing this was just casual between them. Besides, Sho isn't unfamiliar with obvious implications ... except for when it comes to Yuuto. He couldn't tell if what he was doing or saying was him trying to work on preparing their friendship or something else that he really didn't want his brain to think about right now. Saying nothing, he just ate some more food while waiting for Yuuto to respond. If he'd allowed his mind to wander any further, he'd be reminded more of things he didn't want to think about.

Finish & Unfinished Threads / Re: Small Talk (Chibiusa) - Recap
« on: June 30, 2025, 03:15:15 pm »
"Cool, well then, I'll see you later, Darlibagi-san," Chibiusa said, waving at Junko before taking her leave. As she walked away, her thoughts began to wander. Mainly on how this interaction went between her and Junko. Although she couldn't shake the feeling that the brunette-haired girl was hiding whatever relationship she and Professor Nakatomi had, she knew she wasn't going to get that information out of her from just one interaction. Anyone in a situation that's struggling to decide if dealing with someone who's already in a relationship is worth it, wouldn't fully divulge everything to a complete stranger. Sometimes that happens and sometimes not.

In any case, if there is anything going on, Chibiusa would do what she could to give Junko advice that would hopefully get her out of that situation. Whether or not Professor Nakatomi was involved or if it was truly someone else didn't matter. Junko was clearly struggling emotionally in how to deal with it. The judgment is there, but if she could eventually move on to be in a better situation with someone else, that would make Chibiusa feel a little better. At least in regards to Junko. As for Professor Nakatomi, if he's involved, there was no way she was going to allow him to get away with messing with female students. Especially since he was fucking married. 'I need proof first before I do anything,' Chibiusa thought as she left the library and began to head to her next class for the day.

Finish & Unfinished Threads / Re: Small Talk (Chibiusa) - Recap
« on: June 08, 2025, 04:48:11 pm »
"Ah, the Frost Karaoke Bar. It's a popular one that a bunch of high schoolers and university students venture to. I've been there with Momo-chan and Kyuu-kun. We haven't been in a while since we've been busy with classes. Plus, you could use some time away from everything to clear your head for a little bit. It's in the next town over, so we'll be fine," Chibiusa assured her. They had nothing to worry about since where the karaoke bar was located, it was in a relatively safe area. So, there wasn't a need to be afraid of getting attacked or anything. However, she had to keep in mind that she was getting Junko out of her comfort zone, so it made sense for her to ask about the area of town they would be in. After all, not every side of town was a good side of town. Even foreigners that used to Japan often got lost compared to Japanese natives who just got off on the wrong stop due to either not paying attention or the mode of transportation they were taking at that time was crowded and prevented them from getting off at their designated stop when they needed to. That always happens.

But since she was a familiar at the Frost Karaoke Bar, Chibiusa knew they would be treated well. And they made sure that there were no suspicious people hanging around the building either. That said, she gave the brunette a quick thumbs up before she checked her phone to see what time it was. "Ah, I have to head off to my next class soon. I apologize for interrupting your study time, but it was quite interesting to finally talk to you and get to know you a little bit," she said to her with a smile as she began to gather her things and then stand up from the table. "When I'm done with my classes for the day, I'll text you where to meet me at and we'll leave from there to head to the karaoke bar, okay?" She didn't know what Junko's schedule was like either, but even if the other girl was still in classes, she'd text her where to meet her on campus. She wasn't crazy enough to tell her to meet her at the karaoke bar. She knew a few of her classmates who would do that to people and think it's funny to have someone get lost in an unfamiliar area. Chibiusa wouldn't do that to her. She stood there and waited for Junko to respond.
